The Guardian of Water

The image of the robot that is part of the Water Footprint Calculator logo was inspired by the project “Hydrobot: The Guardian of Water”, developed by seventh-grade students from Escuela Primaria Común No. 7 D.E. 8 “Niñas de Ayohuma” in the City of Buenos Aires.

This project offers an inclusive and technological perspective on water conservation. The students designed and built a multifunctional educational robot that teaches about the water cycle, its importance for health and the environment, and promotes responsible and equitable access to this essential resource.

The Hydrobot runs on solar energy, includes sensors to detect obstacles, and is adapted for people with visual, hearing, and motor disabilities—making it both an educational and socially conscious tool.

Its interdisciplinary approach integrates knowledge from science, technology, ethics, and citizenship, inspiring new generations to combine education, innovation, and inclusion in the care of our common home.

The spirit of that Hydrobot—curious, collaborative, and committed to water as a human right—was the inspiration behind the visual identity of the Aqua Lab project, an educational tool that seeks to continue spreading environmental awareness from schools to the wider community.
