The Technical School No. 3 D.E. 9 “María Sánchez de Thompson” in the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina, develops inspiring environmental education projects that integrate different fields of knowledge and promote the active participation of secondary-level students.

Through their connection with the rural community of Campo La Paz, in the province of Salta, the students decided to undertake a project to address a local issue related to access to safe drinking water, turning this challenge into a valuable learning opportunity.

Using artificial intelligence, they embarked on a true scientific adventure: they built homemade water analysis kits capable of detecting microorganisms through an image classifier and an accessible hardware system.

The device uses a handcrafted optical system to obtain magnified images of a drop of water, complemented by an interactive web platform with geolocation, which allows real-time mapping of water conditions in different regions.

The project not only integrates artificial intelligence as an innovative tool but also combines scientific and technical knowledge within an ethical, collaborative, and solidarity-driven framework.

What they value most, they emphasize, is the commitment and leadership of the students, who became deeply involved in an experience with real social impact—learning, experimenting, making mistakes, and learning again.

An initiative that inspires and encourages others to engage socially, generating significant social and environmental impact in the shared home we all inhabit.
